Climate Preparedness with Tribes
My friend and colleague Dr. Shannon McNeeley participated in a project that is helping two tribes, the Eastern Shoshone and Northern Arapaho in Wyoming, prepare for and adapt to climate change impacts such as drought, so that the tribes can ensure they have water to meet their needs. The next phase of the project includes a vulnerability assessment, and involves decision-makers from the indigenous tribes in what looks to be a win-win integration of scientific and indigenous knowledge systems. Bravo Shannon and team!
