Healthcare: It’s Time for Self-Care
Right now, the GOP’s new health care bill is being discussed heatedly in the Senate. It may remove some of the benefits of Obamacare, also known as the Affordable Care Act, which provides health insurance regardless of pre-existing conditions, including mental health problems. The new bill would take away a lot of the funding for medicaid, affecting the poor, and the elderly in nursing homes.
With this health bill being proposed, it’s hard to feel like America is moving forward.
If you’re wondering how to liberate yourself from the healthcare mess, take heart. One slice of good news is that California is working to pass the Healthy California Act, which would make single payer healthcare very affordable.
The better news is that wherever you are, you can take control of your own health so you need not rely as much on healthcare. The hottest overall trend in health now is personalized wellness as a lifestyle. By changing simple daily actions, like what we eat, we can quickly and safely manage and even reverse lifestyle diseases such as diabetes, obesity, and heart disease. Many people have become completely drug-free, using food as their medicine.
Medical doctors such as Neal Barnard, Gabriel Cousens, Michael Greger, Caldwell Esselstyn, and T. Colin Campbell have shown through scientific research that controlling our diet allows us to get healthy quickly, so we can achieve better health, be more productive, and live longer.
To start on this path, watch the documentary Forks Over Knives, and see these examples of how people previously needing healthcare have reversed their health issues. Then, liberate yourself from the healthcare mess with some daily self-care. Try it and tell us how you’re doing!
