Leadership: Living Consciously
Do you remember the last time you caught yourself on autopilot? Were you driving? Eating? Speaking?
Fred Kofman is the founder of Conscious Business Center International, and Vice President of Executive Development at LinkedIn. His view is that automatism is the opposite of consciousness. To live consciously is to be mindful of our moments, and to act with awareness and deliberation instead of by habit – this is sound based on what I learned in my mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) course last year. Easier said than done, but conscious living is important for all aspects of our lives, including our health and work. Kofman teaches a course on Conscious Business as part of his role at LinkedIn – the modules include Leadership, Humility, Communication, Collaboration, Coordination, and Emotional Intelligence. An asset to any leader, team, and organization, clearly.
