Ultimate Wellness Hack: Nature’s Recipes

Message from Marilyn: Hot on the heels of my post about creative flow, behold its latest product: our twelfth book, and third biomimetic or nature-emulating recipe book, Flavor of Love. A collection of traditional Fiji-style recipes, fusion cooking, gluten-free breads, and sumptuous refined-sugar-free desserts, this book offers medleys of flavors that delight, inspire, and incite. Your curiosity, that is, and your desire for a deeper relationship with food.

If you’re just starting out on a plant-based and/or gluten-free diet, or enjoy trying new recipes, this book is for you. Our recipes are really invitations; we include variations that encourage you to explore and invent your own recipes.

Why biomimetic, you ask? We emulate nature by adapting to and eating foods that are available to us locally, and evolving our diets for optimal well being. Our approach is resource efficient, both in terms of choosing low-greenhouse-gas plant-based foods, and low-energy cooking methods as much as possible. If you’re interested, I’ve written in more detail about how Alchemus Prime practices this biomimetic approach in a guest post for Asking Nature. Our recipe books are integrated into our mission to nurture personal and planetary wellness, which are intimately connected.

As is our style with our previous cookbooks, Food of Love (November 2015), and World of Love (August 2017), we also include personal stories that will inspire you to embrace the quirky true self waiting inside you. Waiting to be loved and allowed to dance. Yes!

Flavor of Love is special because it is the second recipe book that I’ve co-authored with Margaret, the ever energetic wellness advisor, (an)altruist at Alchemus Prime. However, it’s extra special because we have a special guest author, my dad, Nathaniel Cornelius. Nathaniel is an excellent cook, and talks in this book about his chef father and nurturing mother, my paternal grandparents, both of whose styles he embodies in his cooking. But wait, it’s extra extra special because we are launching it on Margaret’s birthday, to celebrate a pioneering diabetologist who has reversed all her risk factors using diet and exercise. Bravo!

As descendants of people transplanted from India to Fiji in the 1800s, and as island people who have traveled the world, we offer you these tasty creations in the hope that you will enjoy our marriage of tradition and fusion, Fiji and California, and most importantly, our love of flavor. In the process, you’ll be hacking wellness by improving personal and planetary wellness simultaneously. This is the power of your daily eating and other habits. Yeah!

My overwhelming gratitude goes to Diane, Aaron, Bob, and Judy, without whom this book wouldn’t be as wonderful of an experience to create and share.

Message from Margaret: Since food is essential to life and good nutrition to wellness, it is good to fall in love with food. Flavors are what make eating pleasurable and adding natural herbs and spices to food helps create an awesome platform for happy and healthy living. In addition, when food is prepared with love and shared with friends, the pleasure is doubled. We are sharing our happiness with you in Flavor of Love – check it out for yourself.

Message from Nathaniel: I’m excited to be a guest author in the third recipe book of this series, which promotes health and wellness. The book contains healthy choices of fresh vegetables and easily available ingredients in California and Fiji. The love of food and flavor made me contribute to this book. I’m inviting my friends to own this book, try out the recipes, and enjoy the Flavor of Love.

Flavor of Love is now available via Amazon. Do tell us what you think of our book – we’re all ears (and taste buds, tee hee).

Our third recipe book, Flavor of Love, explores traditional flavors of Fiji and offers many fusion dishes to delight the taste buds.
